Job summary

First Bus Huddersfield Depot is seeking a PSV/HGV Technician to join our busy workshop at Old Fieldhouse Lane, Huddersfield. This full-time role is 37.5 hours per week with a rotating 4-on/4-off style schedule, including weekends, and pays £20 per hour plus enhanced overtime.

You will diagnose, repair, service and test vehicles to ensure safety and reliability, with opportunities for upskilling and progression within a market-leading bus operator.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds equivalent) in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Flexibility to work across multiple skills and tasks.
• UK driving licence required; PCV licence desirable and can be supported to achieve it.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement.
• Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used.
• Carry out vehicle servicing and routine examinations using handheld data capture devices.
• Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries as required.
• Carry out vehicle road testing to identify defects after repairs.

Position:PSV/HGV Technician

Location: Old Fieldhouse Lane, Huddersfield, HD2 1AG

Contracted Hours:37.5 hours per week (full time & permanent)

Working Hours:4 days over 7 (including weekends) on a rotation of early and late shifts: 5:30am-15:30pm early and 13:00pm-23:00pm late

Pay Rate:£20.00 per hour + enhanced overtime rate paid at time and a half

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualifiedPSV/HGV Technicianfor ourFirst Bus Huddersfield Depot – PSV or HGV experience is great however we love to hear from experienced LightVehicle qualified candidates and ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other sectors looking for a change.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
• Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
• Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable
• Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries where required
• Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair

About You:

• Do you have a minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair
• Do you have a flexible approach to work with the ability to multi skill?
• Are you a UK driving license holder? A PCV license is desirable however we can help you achieve this
