Job summary

First Bus Glasgow Scotstoun Depot is seeking an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic. The role covers diagnosing and repairing buses, servicing, and breakdown support from Scotstoun.

You will work days and nights with 1 in 3 weekends, with upskilling provided and a competitive rate plus a £2000 joining bonus. Benefits include health cover, pension, and travel discounts.

Qualifications

• Flexible approach to work with ability to multi-skill.
• UK driving license; PCV license desirable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing and parts replacement.
• Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct repair method and parts.
• Carry out servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data devices.
• Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries when required.
• Carry out road testing to identify defects post-repair.

Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location: Scotstoun Depot,1073 South Street, Glasgow, G14 0AQ

Contracted Hours: 37 per week (permanent + overtime available)

Working Hours: Dayshift and Nightshift roles available, both shift patterns include 1 in 3 weekends

Pay Rate:£21.54 per hour dayshift and £24.07 per hour nightshift + a weekend premium rate - with further pay increase scheduled for April 2027

Salary:Approx. £41,442-£46,310 base salary per annum

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic for our First Bus Glasgow Scotstoun Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineeringapprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other sectors looking for a change.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
• Diagnosevehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
• Carry outvehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable
• Attend on-roadvehicle breakdowns and recoveries where required
• Carry outvehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair

About You

• Do you have a minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair – PSV/HGV preferred
• Do you have a flexible approach to work with theability to multi skill?
• Are you a UK driving license holder? A PCV license isdesirable however we can help you achieve this
