Job summary

First Bus Chelmsford Depot is seeking a NVQ/SVQ Level 3 PSV/HGV Mechanical Fitter with broad bus maintenance experience. The role covers diagnosing faults, servicing, and on-road breakdowns. PSV/HGV background preferred; Light Vehicle background welcome; UK driving licence required and PCV licence desirable.

Qualifications

• Do you have a minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair – PSV/HGV preferred.
• Do you have a flexible approach to work with the ability to multi skill?
• Are you a UK driving license holder? A PCV license is desirable however we can help you achieve this

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
• Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
• Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable
• Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries where required
• Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair

Shifts: 4 days out of 7 (including weekends) on a rotation of early shifts 05:00-15:00 and late shifts 14:30-00:30

Pay Rate: £24.03 per hour and £25.07 as the weekend premium

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanical Fitter for our First Bus Chelmsford Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from Light Vehicle qualified candidates and ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other sectors looking for a change.
