Job summary

FirstGroup plc is looking for a PSV/HGV Mechanic at Kings Lynn Depot. You'll diagnose faults, carry out repairs and replacements, and perform scheduled servicing to keep vehicles safe and reliable.

Shifts vary (early, mid, late); minimum 39 hours weekly; weekend premium applies; joining bonus £2,000; applicants must have Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds in vehicle maintenance and a valid UK driving licence; background checks as part of recruitment.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds in vehicle maintenance & repair.
• Experience working on HGV or PSV vehicles.
• Valid UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs on PSV/HGV vehicles.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Repair parts and recoveries, road testing when required.
• Ensure documentation complies with regulations and health and safety standards.

Key Details

• £21.12 per hour
• Weekend premium rate of £22.19 per hour
• Minimum 39 hours per week
• Approx. £42,831 per annum
• 5 days over 7
• Varying shifts available: early shift, mid shift or late shift - can be discussed at screening

In this hands-on role, you’ll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You’ll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You’ll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
