Job summary

FirstGroup plc, at Doncaster Depot, is seeking a NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team. Experience with HGV/PSV is valued, and ex-forces candidates with an engineering apprenticeship are encouraged to apply.

You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, schedule servicing, and respond to breakdowns while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs on PSV/HGV vehicles.
• Perform scheduled servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Respond to on-road breakdowns and recoveries; road test vehicles as required.
• Ensure documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location

Doncaster Depot, Leger Way DN2 6AZ

We are now looking for an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at First Bus Doncaster Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineeringapprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details

• £21.61 per hour
• 5 days over 7
• Minimum 40 hours per week
• Rotation of early and late shifts

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We're Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
