Job summary

FirstGroup plc, Weston-Super-Mare Depot, is seeking an NVQ Level 3 (or C&G) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join our busy team. Youll diagnose faults, carry out servicing, and replace parts to keep buses and trucks safe.

We offer 39 hours per week with varying shifts and a weekend premium. A £3,000 joining bonus is available. PSV/HGV experience and a UK driving licence are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Must hold NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair.
• Experience on PSV or HGV is preferred but not required for strong applicants from related automotive sectors.
• Valid UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs on PSV/HGV vehicles.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Replace parts as needed and perform road tests where required.
• Complete all documentation in line with regulations and safety standards.

Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location: Searle Cres, Weston-Super-Mare BS23 3XP

We are now looking for an NVQ Level 3 (or C&G equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at First Bus Weston-Super-Mare Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineeringapprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details

• £20.35-£21.61 per hour (depending on shift)
• Varying shifts available - we are open to discussing shift patterns with you!
• Weekend premium rate available
• Minimum 39 hours per week
• £3,000 JOINING BONUS!

In this hands‑on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on‑road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We're Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
