Job summary

FirstBus Kings Lynn Depot is looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) PSV/HGV Mechanic to join our busy team. You will diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and perform servicing while ensuring documentation and safety compliance.

The role offers varying shifts (early, mid, late) with a minimum 39 hours per week, weekend premiums, and a £2,000 joining bonus. Applicants with HGV/PSV experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in vehicle maintenance & repair.
• Experience on HGV or PSV is preferred.
• UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs to vehicles.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and routine inspections.
• Respond to on-road breakdowns and recoveries as needed.
• Document maintenance work accurately and in line with regulations.

PSV/HGV Mechanic

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at our First Bus Kings Lynn Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineeringapprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details

• £21.12 per hour


• Weekend premium rate of £22.19 per hour


• Minimum 39 hours per week


• Approx. £42,831 per annum


• 5 days over 7


• Varying shifts available: early shift, mid shift or late shift - can be discussed at screening

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We're Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?


• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?


• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?


• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
