Job summary

First Bus Basildon Depot is seeking a PSV/HGV Mechanic to join our engineering team. The role requires NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in vehicle maintenance and repair, with PSV/HGV experience preferred. Flexible, multi-skilled candidates with a UK driving licence are encouraged to apply, and PCV license support is available.

We offer an attractive hourly rate, weekend premium, and a £2,000 joining bonus. Expect 39 hours per week with overtime potential and a rotation of early/late shifts.

Qualifications

• Flexible approach to work with the ability to multi skill.
• UK driving licence holder; PCV licence desirable but support available to achieve.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement.
• Diagnose vehicle faults and specify correct repair methods and parts.
• Carry out servicing and routine examinations using handheld data capture devices.
• Attend on-road breakdowns and recoveries as required.
• Carry out road testing to identify defects after repairs.

Job description

Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location: Basildon Depot, SS16 5AG

Contracted Hours: 39 per week (permanent + overtime available)

Shifts: 4 days out of 7 (including weekends) on a rotation of early shifts 05:00-15:00 and late shifts 14:00-00:00

Pay Rate: £24.37 per hour and £25.42 as the weekend premium hourly rate

Salary: £49,422 per annum with the potential to earn around £4000 extra with weekend premium

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic for our First Bus Basildon Depot – PSV or HGVmechanical experience is great however we love to hear from Light Vehicle qualified candidates and ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other sectors looking for a change.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
• Diagnosevehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
• Carry outvehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable
• Attend on-roadvehicle breakdowns and recoveries where required
• Carry outvehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair

About You

• Do you have a minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair – PSV/HGV preferred
• Do you have a flexible approach to workwith the ability to multi skill?
• Are you a UK driving license holder? A PCV license isdesirable however we can help you achieve this
