Job summary
WSP in the UK & Ireland seeks an Associate Protection & Control Engineer within the UK Energy team to lead the design and delivery of protection and control solutions for transmission and distribution networks.
You will provide technical leadership, governance and client-facing support from concept through commissioning, while mentoring junior engineers and supporting continuous improvement across the discipline.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience designing protection & control schemes for transmission & distribution.
- Familiarity with IEC 61850 and IEC 60870; knowledge of major substation equipment suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of protection and control solutions for transmission and distribution projects.
- Undertake BP141 and CDAE activities; ensure designs meet client standards and governance.
- Mentor and develop engineers across experience levels; support performance and growth.
- Engage with clients; represent WSP in technical reviews and governance meetings.
- Support business growth through resource planning and capability development.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture across the Energy team.
