16.39 - 21.43 per hour

Summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a proactive Property Pathway and Sustainability Officer to help refugee and migrant families access safe and affordable housing. The role involves working with families, estate agents, landlords and the Home Office to secure sustainable accommodation, prevent temporary housing stays and support long‑term integration. Regular travel across West Sussex is required.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and secure appropriate affordable residential accommodation for refugee and migrant families across West Sussex.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with estate agents, landlords, housing providers and the Home Office to support property acquisition and sustainability.
  • Work directly with individuals and families to support their relocation and help them understand housing options, responsibilities and tenancy pathways.
  • Maintain accurate timely records of property availability, family placements and tenancy outcomes.
  • Provide reports, updates and recommendations to managers and partners as required.
Experiences
  • Experience working in housing accommodation services, property management or a related field.
  • Experience working directly with vulnerable individuals or families, ideally including refugees, migrants or those at risk of homelessness.
  • Proven experience building productive relationships with external partners such as landlords, estate agents and local authorities.
  • Experience managing a caseload and working independently to meet deadlines and service requirements.
Requirements
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Good standard of spoken and written English (due to regular interaction with the public).

  • You should have right to work in U.K.
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS.
