Project Engineer – Electrical

NRL is currently recruiting a Project Engineer – Electrical to join one of our leading clients in their Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a high-performing project team within a critical sector, supporting the delivery of complex engineering works on a key site within the UK’s nuclear fleet. You’ll work within a highly regulated environment and collaborate with a range of stakeholders to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient execution of engineering projects. You’ll be supported by experienced professionals and offered development opportunities to grow your project delivery and leadership skills in a respected, forward‑thinking organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver commissioning activities across HV, LV, DC, and generator systems (e.g., 400kV, 10kV, 400VAC, 690VAC, 220VDC).
  • Prepare and manage commissioning plans, test procedures, and validation records.
  • Support design reviews to ensure systems are commissioning‑ready.
  • Lead and monitor a defined programme of commissioning tests.
  • Supervise contractors to ensure safe and timely delivery of work.
  • Coordinate with design and project teams to align technical outputs.
  • Contribute to planning meetings and support cross‑discipline collaboration.
Requirements
  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671) certified.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Experience using planning tools like Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
  • Background in commissioning within regulated or large‑scale infrastructure projects.
Desirable
  • Experience within the nuclear, power generation, or similarly regulated sector.
  • Familiarity with site‑based commissioning environments and health & safety requirements.
  • Ability to work across multiple systems and disciplines.
