Job description
The role

To help students achieve their full potential by monitoring academic performance, attendance, and well-being, and providing targeted guidance and support. This involves working with students individually and in groups to build their confidence, develop life skills, and ensure they progress to their next stage, whether that is university, employment, or further training. The role is student-facing and requires close collaboration with teachers and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
Tutorial & PHSE Delivery
  • Deliver engaging group tutorials and personalised one-to-one sessions.
  • Support students in achieving their academic and personal goals.
  • Monitor attendance and progress, providing interventions when needed.
Pastoral Care & Student Support
  • Offer personalised advice and guidance on wellbeing, mental health, and safeguarding.
  • Refer and liaise with internal and external support services when necessary.
  • Work closely with curriculum teams to ensure students' individual needs are met.
  • Support induction activities, late enrollers, and transition from feeder schools.
  • Contribute to college-wide events promoting wellbeing, British Values, and safeguarding.
  • Act as the Designated Tutor for Looked After and International students.
Attendance & Behaviour
  • Support students to improve attendance, engagement, and conduct.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers to share progress and celebrate success.
  • Escalate concerns following college policy when appropriate.
General Responsibilities
  • Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health & safety policies in all aspects of work.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Promote the College's values and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Undertake additional duties as required by senior leadership.
