A community-focused charity is seeking a Programme & Community Engagement Manager in Chatham, UK. This permanent, hands‑on role is ideally based in Medway, though applicants willing to travel across Kent are welcome, with all work‑related travel costs covered. The programme will grow based on local need, informed by their successful work in Neath Port Talbot. You’ll use your community development experience -ideally with an assets‑based approach - while working closely with Medway Council on their heritage place programme. This isn’t a desk‑based role, and no two days will be the same. There are currently no direct reports, however this may change as and when we receive more funding.
Leading programme, contract and resource management, ensuring delivery on time and within budget, managing relationships and contracts, and producing high‑quality reports that demonstrate progress, impact and performance against KPIs.
Overseeing delivery and growth of the Medway Time Credits network, including planning, partner engagement, training, co‑design and direct outreach. Applying an asset‑based community development approach and work collaboratively with community members to create meaningful change, particularly in heritage volunteering.
Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, working with funders, heritage partners, community organisations and Medway Council, while ensuring accurate, timely reporting and effective collection and use of evaluation data.
Developing and implementing local strategic plans, supporting new project setup, aligning delivery with organisational priorities, and embedding consistent resources, tools and approaches across the region.
Driving profile raising and sustainability, representing Tempo at events and forums, strengthening recognition partner networks, and leading renewal processes and model development to secure long‑term programme impact.
Championing innovation, learning and organisational development, sharing best practice, leading improvement projects, producing learning content, and amplifying community and heritage stories to support organisational growth and influence.
Proven experience in community development, partnership working and delivering programmes alongside communities, public services and voluntary sector organisations.
Strong stakeholder engagement and contract management skills, including managing multiple projects, budgets and reporting requirements.
Ability to design, implement and facilitate initiatives, including workshops, training sessions and co‑produced activities with partners.
Skilled in communication and influence, with experience producing high‑quality reports, delivering presentations and tailoring messages to different audiences.
Confident using digital tools and IT systems, including Microsoft Office and CRM platforms, with the ability to collect, analyse and use evaluation data.
