Job Summary

The post holder will be responsible for the procurement of supplies, works and services within specific Procurement Categories. They will work closely with key stakeholders within Cheshire West and Chester and with the Procurement Category Specialists, and Procurement Manager to develop a series of agreed strategies for key categories. The whole supply chain will be considered and Procurement will be instrumental in the complete sourcing process.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Procurement Team which implements innovative procurement solutions to ensure the Council achieves best value through its relationships with suppliers, companies and other partners.

Responsibilities

As a Procurement Officer, you will be joining a small, busy team dealing with a wide range of spend categories across the authority and respective spend areas. This is a great opportunity for someone interested further developing their career in public sector procurement. You will be accountable for the delivery of specific strategic procurement projects and support the development and delivery of service strategies and objectives. The successful candidate will align to support the corporate service within the Council and be responsible for the management of the commissioning cycle, through the provision of best practice procurement, including e-procurement solutions and financial systems. Therefore proven experience of using electronic systems and Microsoft office (especially Excel) and Unit 4 ERP is essential.

The post holder will also need to have good communication and analytical expertise as well as the ability to organise and prioritise daily tasks and workload. The role requires the candidate to have excellent teamwork skills and the ability to create good working relationships both across the Council and its partners and with external suppliers.

Qualifications

We are interested in hearing from you if you hold as a minimum member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Level 4 (or hold an equivalent procurement qualification) or are working towards an equivalent qualification or have experience of working in a public sector procurement, finance, or commissioning environment, along with knowledge of the full procurement lifecycle. You will have knowledge of the stages involved in developing and implementing contracting strategies, and an understanding of Public sector procurement legislation.

Work Setting

Your time will be spent working from home, other sites and the office to enable you to balance your home and work life. Determination and enthusiasm will be key, and you will be working with a range of stakeholders so relationship building will be important.
