Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team. You will advise on UK data protection laws, support the DPO, manage DPIAs, maintain RO P A, and oversee data breach responses while engaging with regulators.

This role drives privacy compliance and continuous improvement across the organisation. As a trusted advisor on data protection, you will handle DSARs, liaise with ICO, and contribute to risk management and MI reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience providing data protection advice within Compliance and/or Legal functions.
• Strong understanding of ICO guidance, codes and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Researching, analysing and interpreting regulatory information; presenting it clearly.
• Able to challenge views and interpret regulatory guidance with accuracy.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with influencing/negotiation ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead breach management and MI reporting to senior forums.
• Act as main contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation matters related to data protection.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to resolve privacy issues and drive improvements.
• Drive monitoring activities and liaise with ICO on complaints and regulatory inquiries.
