Prison Officer – HMP Stocken

£35,875 - £40,003 per annum

Prison officers protect the public and help to make a positive impact on people’s lives. No two days or situations are ever the same. As you gain experience, you’ll find a range of opportunities to grow and develop.

We’re looking for individuals with integrity, skills and a strength of character who can work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Applicants may come from a variety of backgrounds including parenting, retail, armed forces and teaching – all of whom should bring empathy, self‑confidence and solid communication skills.

You will build constructive, positive and professional relationships with offenders, often at the lowest point in their lives. Teamwork is essential – you must be fully committed to supporting colleagues and acting as one team to keep the prison, offenders and everyone who works here safe.

You will be required to work various shifts, including weekends.

In this unique career, you’ll carry out many different roles in a single day – from peacekeeper to counsellor or teacher. You’ll work directly with prisoners, protecting the public and making a positive impact.
