Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal or Associate Tunnelling Engineer to join our Geotechnical and Tunnelling team in the UK. You will lead delivery of tunnels and shafts, check reports and drawings, and mentor engineers across projects from feasibility through construction.

You will work within a dynamic, multidisciplinary group on landmark road and rail schemes, balancing technical excellence with effective resource planning, client liaison and business development to grow our tunnelling practice.

Qualifications

• Experience in the management and delivery of tunnelling projects with multi-disciplinary design coordination.
• Technical expertise in civil/structural and geotechnical engineering for tunnelling schemes.
• Consultancy experience with client relationships and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Producing, checking and approving engineering deliverables including reports, presentations, design calculations and drawings associated with the design of tunnels and shafts.
• Work as part of a dynamic team of tunnelling and geotechnical engineers on diverse projects from feasibility to construction.
• Effectively managing and delivering project work with robust project financial management.
• Assisting in the management of team resources and allocation of appropriate project resources.
• Managing, mentoring and developing professional staff.
• Providing support in all aspects of project delivery including client liaison, contractors and sub consultants, public and statutory body consultation, quality control and management of specialists.
• Carry out business development activities including preparation of technical proposals.
