Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of underground structures. In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers to contribute to landmark projects across the UK and Ireland.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in structural design for underground shafts and tunnels.
• Strong understanding of structural behaviour under complex loading conditions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design for underground structures from concept through detailed design.
• Ensure compliance with relevant design standards and guidance.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal training programmes.

Skills

Structural design for underground shafts and tunnels

Familiarity with tunnelling methods

Proficiency in structural analysis software

Project management

Excellent communication skills

Education

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Postgraduate qualification (desirable)
