Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Tunnelling Engineer or Senior Tunnelling Engineer to join our Geotechnics and Tunnelling team. You will design and deliver tunnel and shaft projects, working within a multi-disciplinary group and coordinating with clients and contractors.

The role emphasizes technical tunnelling delivery, mentoring staff, and contributing to business development across road and rail schemes. A Chartered or near-chartered professional with Eurocodes experience is preferred.

Qualifications

Expertise in civil/structural and geotechnical engineering for tunnelling schemes.
Experience delivering tunnelling/underground projects with multi-disciplinary design input.
Degree in Engineering Geology, Civil or Structural Engineering.
Chartered or near Chartered status or equivalent registration.
Experience with Eurocodes and relevant design standards.

Responsibilities

Produce and check engineering deliverables: reports, presentations, calculations and drawings for tunnels and shafts.
Work within a dynamic tunnelling and geotechnical team on micro-tunnels to major road/rail schemes.
Effectively manage and deliver project work and client relations.
Contribute to resource planning and allocation within projects.
Mentor and develop junior staff and engage with clients and subcontractors.
