Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to support the continued expansion of the energy team across Renewables & Transmission and Distribution. The role involves leading civil design, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and delivering projects UK-wide with a flexible hybrid working model.

The candidate will work across UK energy projects, contribute to feasibility through construction supervision, and mentor junior staff as the team grows.

Qualifications

• BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership with ICE or equivalent.
• Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects for Energy Transition desirable.
• UK Transmission & Distribution project experience (11kV-400kV) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead verifier on reports including feasibility studies and design reports.
• Liaise with clients, manage project work day-to-day within timescales and budgets.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Lead and manage the design of civil infrastructure including roads, drainage, external works.
• Prepare and review calculations, detailed design drawings and specifications per UK standards.
• Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries.
• Produce high-quality reports (feasibility studies, inspection reports, design documentation).
• Mentor and guide junior staff.
