Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to support energy projects across the UK and Ireland, including Renewables & Transmission and Distribution. You will be deployed to a range of energy projects and lead civil infrastructure design and verification.

You’ll oversee feasibility through to construction, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and mentor junior engineers, with a flexible hybrid working model and strong career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering required.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership with the IMechE or equivalent.
• Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary energy projects is highly desirable.
• Experience on UK Transmission & Distribution projects (11kV–400kV) is desirable.
• Role requires high technical competency in civil/structural design.
• Strong report writing and organisation skills are essential.
• Familiarity with NGTS or National Grid CDAE status is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead verifier on reports including feasibility studies and design reports.
• Liaise with clients, manage project work and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Lead and manage civil infrastructure design including roads, drainage and external works.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings and specs per UK standards (BS EN, Eurocodes, CDM).
• Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries.
• Produce high-quality feasibility, inspection and design reports.
• Mentor and guide junior staff.
