Job summary

AECOM seeks an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to support the expansion of the energy team across Renewables and Transmission & Distribution. The role covers projects UK-wide with a hybrid working model and opportunities to shape sustainable infrastructure.

Applicants should have a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, be chartered or working towards chartership, and show strong delivery experience in energy transition projects and UK transmission/distribution schemes.

Qualifications

• BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership with ICE or equivalent.
• Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects for the Energy Transition.
• Experience on UK Transmission & Distribution projects (11KV-400KV).
• Strong technical competency in civil/structural design.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead verifier on reports including feasibility studies and design reports.
• Liaise with clients, manage project work day-to-day and meet timescales and budgets.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Lead and manage design of civil infrastructure including roads, drainage, and external works.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings and specifications to UK standards.
• Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries.
• Produce high-quality feasibility, inspection, and design reports.
• Mentor and guide junior staff.
