Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to support our Renewables & Transmission and Distribution teams across the UK. You’ll lead technical design, feasibility and construction supervision for onshore wind, hydro, grid infrastructure, and BESS, working with major energy providers and developers in a hybrid work model.

Based in UK offices such as Bristol, Edinburgh, London, Belfast, or Dublin, you’ll mentor junior staff, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure designs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Hons) is required.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership with ICE or a relevant Institution.
• Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary energy-transition projects is highly desirable.
• Experience on UK Transmission & Distribution projects (11kV–400kV) is desirable.
• Technical capability across civil/structural design and strong reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead verifier on technical feasibility studies and design reports.
• Liaise with clients, manage day-to-day project work within timescales and budgets.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Lead the design of civil infrastructure including roads, drainage, and external works.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings and specifications to UK standards.
• Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries.
• Produce high-quality feasibility, inspection and design reports.
• Mentor and guide junior staff.
