Job summary

A leading mental health service provider in the UK is seeking an experienced psychological practitioner to join their multi-disciplinary team and enhance a crisis/home treatment service for children and young people. The role involves working clinically with families, providing intensive psychological care and support during times of crisis. Candidates should be registered with HCPC and have a strong understanding of risk management and teamwork. Qualifications

Overview

We are seeking to recruit an experienced and creative psychological practitioner to add to our team of skilled multi‑disciplinary colleagues to continue developing an enhanced crisis / home treatment seven‑day a week service, as an alternative to inpatient admission for children and young people experiencing acute mental health difficulties.

Responsibilities
  • Work clinically with young people and families who are at the point of crisis, providing intensive psychological care at home or in hospital settings.
  • Deliver assessment, consultation and evidence‑based interventions as part of the Sussex CAMHS COAST.
  • Use clinical experience to assess and support the young person alongside their parent/carer to enhance outcomes and quality of life.
  • Receive supervision from the CAMHS acute consultant psychologist and network with psychological professionals across Sussex.
  • Contribute to the development of a seven‑day a‑week crisis/home treatment service and expand the integrated range of services for children and young people in Sussex.
Qualifications
  • Registered with the HCPC as a psychologist.
  • Experience in risk management and working in a fast‑paced, varied role.
  • Strong communication skills to support professional decision‑making in complex situations.
  • Adaptable, organised, compassionate, and a team player able to work in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • Experience working with families in crisis and a particular affinity for supporting young people.
  • Desire to progress from a preceptorship Band 7 to Band 8A.
