Practice Nurse - Permanent (1-2 Days per Week)

Location: Cambridge (GP Practice)

Hours: 8:00am - 5:30pm (Ideally Wednesday & Thursday, but flexible)

Specialisms: Asthma & Diabetes

I am working with a well-regarded GP Practice in Cambridge seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join their clinical team on a permanent part-time basis. This role is ideal for a nurse confident in chronic disease management, particularly asthma and diabetes, and looking for a stable position within a supportive primary care environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will work alongside the practice's clinical team to deliver high-quality nursing care to the patient population. General Practice nursing duties typically include:

  • Chronic disease management (particularly asthma and diabetes)
  • Running nurse-led clinics
  • Cervical cytology (smear tests)
  • Childhood and adult immunisations & vaccinations
  • Wound care and dressings
  • ECGs and blood pressure checks
  • NHS Health Checks
  • Travel health advice
  • Contraception and sexual health advice
  • Spirometry (if trained)
  • Infection prevention & control
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and using EMIS/System One (or similar)

Experience in primary care is essential, along with confidence in managing long‑term conditions.

Candidate Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (NMC) with experience in General Practice
  • Competent in asthma and diabetes management
  • Strong clinical judgement and the ability to run autonomous clinics
  • Excellent communication and patient‑care skills
  • Organised, proactive and able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
