Job summary

The Surgery is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Ayr Town Centre practice. You will manage administrative and nursing teams, drive service improvements, and ensure patient-centered care in a busy, NHS-related environment.

You will work with external accountants and ensure compliance with local NHS governance and regulatory requirements, while developing strong internal processes and staff development.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a management role, ideally within healthcare or NHS settings.
• Strong leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills for a multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience in financial management and working with external accountants.

Job description

The Surgery, 9 Alloway Place are looking for an individual with proven experience in a management role, ideally within a healthcare or NHS setting. You should bring strong leadership and be confident in managing and developing our team. You should have excellent organisational and communication abilities, and experience in Financial management including Xero software. You will be responsible for Data Protection and HR processes. A sound understanding of EMIS, Docman and M365 is desirable. The ability to work proactively and adapt within a challenging, busy environment is essential.

We seek to employ a highly motivated and experienced Practice Manager to join our friendly, well-established teaching practice in Ayr town centre. Our practice enjoys a beautiful setting overlooking the esplanade at Ayr seafront, providing a welcoming environment for staff, patients and visitors.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills to oversee the day-to-day running of the practice. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care whilst ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all practice services and business. You will be supported by an experienced Assistant Manager and Practice Team.

The Practice Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the practice, ensuring that systems and processes are effective and compliant with policies and regulation. You will lead, support, and develop the administrative and nursing teams and support our multi-disciplinary team members, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.

The role also includes responsibility for financial management and monitoring, working closely with our external Accountants at Dains, Ayr. You will be responsible for resource allocation, premises management alongside ensuring compliance with local and NHS governance and regulatory requirements. In addition, you will drive service improvement initiatives, support quality assurance processes, and act as a key point of contact for patients, staff, and external stakeholders.

The Practice works in partnership with NES, University of Glasgow and University of Dundee teaching FY2 Doctors and Medical Students.
