Job summary

AFI group of companies in Caldicot is seeking a MEWPS Engineer to service, inspect, and maintain our fleet of rental machines. The role covers pre-delivery inspections, LOLER checks, and on-site breakdown support to ensure maximum machine availability.

You will diagnose faults, record checks using a PDA, and work closely with the engineering team and hire office. An IPAF licence is required; CAP licence is desirable, and NVQ level 2 in engineering or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification with NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
• Competent in electro/hydraulic systems and fault finding.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Prioritise tasks in a demanding hire environment.
• IPAF Operator licence/certification is required.
• CAP licence is desirable.

MEWPS Engineer - Caldicot

The salary for this role is negotiable (DOE) plus overtime

About the Role

In brief, the position of MEWPS Engineer involves:

• Carrying out pre-delivery inspections (PDIs), services, LOLER inspections, repairs, and manufacturer updates, and maintaining the corporate image of our fleet of rental machines.
• Attending breakdowns on customer sites.
• Accurately recording all necessary checks using a company-issued PDA, following company procedure at all times.
• Communicating effectively with the engineering team and hire office to make sure that the depot maintains maximum machine availability.

Requirements

• You must hold an engineering qualification (ideally in plant maintenance) - minimum NVQ level 2 or equivalent.

• You must be able to prioritise tasks in an ever-changing, demanding hire environment.
• A valid IPAF Operator licence/certification is required.
