Job description

Power Quality Consultant | Power Quality Engineering, Harmonics & Microgrid Integration | UK

Are you a power quality expert who enjoys solving complex electrical problems, uncovering the root cause of network disturbances, and helping clients improve the performance and reliability of their critical assets?

Nexos Group is seeking a Power Quality Consultant to become our specialist authority for power quality investigations across industrial and commercial environments. This is an exciting opportunity to combine forensic engineering, client-facing consultancy, and front-end power systems design while supporting some of the UK's most innovative electrification and microgrid projects.

Working across existing facilities and new developments, you'll help clients diagnose operational issues, identify risks, and implement practical engineering solutions that improve network performance, reliability, and compliance.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading forensic investigations into power quality issues, equipment failures, unexplained tripping events, overheating, and operational disruptions
  • Acting as the primary technical contact for clients experiencing electrical network performance problems
  • Delivering paid power quality studies, site assessments, and engineering reports that provide clear root-cause analysis and mitigation strategies
  • Deploying and managing Class A Power Quality Analysers to capture and assess voltage sags, swells, harmonics, transients, flicker, and network unbalance
  • Analysing complex waveform and monitoring data to identify compliance issues and operational risks
  • Supporting the design and development of behind-the-meter (BTM) energy projects involving Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Solar PV, EV charging infrastructure, and flexible electrical loads
  • Ensuring new electrification and microgrid projects maintain robust power quality and comply with relevant grid and industry standards
  • Specifying and recommending mitigation measures including Active Harmonic Filters (AHF), Passive Filters, Power Factor Correction (PFC) systems, and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
  • Collaborating with grid compliance, EMS, transformer, and power systems specialists to deliver integrated engineering solutions
What We're Looking For
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
  • 5+ years' experience in power quality engineering, electrical commissioning, power systems analysis, or industrial electrical infrastructure
  • Proven experience investigating harmonics, voltage disturbances, network instability, and equipment performance issues
  • Strong understanding of inverter-based technologies including Solar PV, BESS, EV charging infrastructure, and power electronic systems
  • Hands-on experience deploying and configuring Class A Power Quality Analysers such as Fluke, Chauvin Arnoux, Elspec, or equivalent equipment
  • Working knowledge of UK power quality standards including ENA EREC G5/5, P28, P29, and EN 50160
  • Experience specifying power quality mitigation equipment and developing practical engineering recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, commercially focused reports and client presentations
Why Join Nexos Group?

At Nexos Group, you'll work on a diverse mix of customer investigations, electrification projects, renewable energy schemes, battery storage developments, and next-generation microgrid solutions. You'll have the opportunity to become a recognised technical authority while remaining hands-on with the engineering challenges that keep modern electrical networks operating safely and efficiently.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced power quality professional looking to combine technical excellence, consultancy, and real-world problem solving within a growing and innovative business.
