Transformer Subject Matter Expert | Industrial & Commercial Power Systems | UK

Are you a transformer specialist with deep technical expertise in industrial power distribution? Do you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, supporting customers with bespoke solutions, and acting as the technical authority that others rely on?

Nexos Group is seeking a Transformer Subject Matter Expert to become the go-to technical expert for our growing transformer portfolio. This is a senior individual contributor role where you'll work closely with customers, sales teams, and design engineers to deliver technically robust solutions across a range of industrial and commercial applications.

You'll play a pivotal role in supporting projects involving sub-5MW distribution transformers, reactors, mining transformers, rectifier transformers, and other bespoke engineered solutions, ensuring customer requirements are translated into practical, compliant, and commercially successful outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

Acting as the technical authority for all transformer and reactor-related enquiries across the business

Providing expert technical support during customer discussions, tender submissions, and bid reviews

Working directly with industrial and commercial clients to understand operational requirements and develop tailored equipment specifications

Supporting the sales team with technical validation and solution development

Collaborating with design and engineering teams to ensure client requirements are accurately incorporated into product designs and manufacturing specifications

Advising on specialist applications including mining, heavy industrial, rectifier, and custom-engineered transformer solutions

Ensuring products and designs comply with relevant BS and IEC standards

Contributing to the successful delivery of technically challenging projects from concept through to manufacture

What We're Looking For

Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)

5+ years of experience working with industrial and commercial transformers, reactors, or specialised transformer applications

Strong technical knowledge of sub-5MW distribution transformers, reactors, mining transformers, rectifier transformers, and custom transformer designs

Thorough understanding of applicable BS and IEC standards

Experience supporting projects within industrial, commercial, utilities, manufacturing, mining, or energy sectors

Ability to interpret complex customer requirements and convert them into clear technical specifications

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both engineering and non-technical audiences

Proven ability to work effectively with design engineers, CAD teams, production teams, and commercial stakeholders
