Job summary

Blackedge Consulting's London team is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead the design and analysis of high-performance electrical networks for data centres and critical infrastructure projects worldwide.

You will own power system studies from concept to commissioning, mentor engineers, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and deliver resilient solutions that meet demanding reliability standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (BEng, MEng, or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership.
  • Extensive experience in power systems engineering within data centres, utilities, renewable energy, or critical infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong expertise in: Load Flow Analysis, Protection Coordination, Arc Flash Analysis.
  • Proficiency in software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, SKM, or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leading power systems engineering on complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Delivering power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and transient analysis.
  • Acting as Technical Lead for major power infrastructure and substation projects.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary teams to achieve programme, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Developing innovative electrical network solutions for mission-critical environments.
  • Managing technical risk and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Building strong client relationships and acting as a trusted engineering advisor.
  • Supporting proposal development, tender submissions, and business growth initiatives.
  • Driving continuous improvement in engineering best practice and technical delivery.
  • Coaching and mentoring engineers to strengthen team capability and succession planning.
