Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Manningtree to join our delivery team. You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot across your local route, and build strong relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weathers.

The role is a fixed-term contract of 24 months, 30 hours per week over six days including Sundays. A full manual UK driving licence is required, with up to 6 penalty points, and you must be willing to pass a driving assessment

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points) registered to your current name and address.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 24 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30.00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:10 - 15:10 over 5 days, 07:40 - 15:10 over 4 days/09:10 - 15:10 over 5 days, 07:40 - 15:10 over 4 days*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Manningtree Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)


• Driving a Royal Mail van daily


• Working in all weather conditions

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
