Royal Mail in Halesworth is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a 30-hour week schedule, with 09:00–15:00 shifts and some weekend work.

You will sort mail at the delivery office, drive a Royal Mail van, walk routes, and interact with customers. Full training, a uniform, and a red van are provided.

This 12-month fixed-term role requires a valid UK manual driving licence, fitness for outdoor work, and reliability in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and customer-focused.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:00/15:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
