Royal Mail Colchester Delivery Office is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels in Colchester, working a 30-hour week on a rotating schedule across Monday to Sunday. Training and a uniform are provided, with a Royal Mail van to drive.

Location: Colchester Delivery Office, CO1 2GB

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 Months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday

Monday - Saturday: 08:15 - 19:45

Sunday: 12:00 - 18:00 4 out of every 6 Sundays on a rota basis.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
