Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Saxmundham is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term contract of 12 months. You will deliver letters and parcels on a rotating schedule, including weekends, using a Royal Mail van and walking long distances in all weather.

Location: Saxmundham DO, IP17 1AA

Job type: Fixed Termcontract (12 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37hours per week - working (6)days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:00am/15:00pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at (Ipswich)Delivery Office.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
