Job summary

Royal Mail in Sheerness is seeking a Postal Delivery Driver (Postie) for a fixed-term 6‑month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels, working a rotating shift including weekends at times, and you may be assigned Sundays at Sittingbourne Delivery Office.

You’ll receive full training, wear the Royal Mail uniform, and drive a Royal Mail van. The role is outdoors, physically demanding and offers holiday and pension benefits.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Ability to pass a driving assessment for Royal Mail vans.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 27:30 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:30 - 15:30/14:00 - 20:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Sittingbourne Delivery Office (ME10 4AA).

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
