Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postal Delivery Driver (Postie) in Sevenoaks for a fixed-term 9-month contract. The role involves outdoor delivery work, walking long distances, and delivering items to local customers with a rotating shift schedule.

You will be trained, receive a uniform, and operate a Royal Mail van on a daily route. A full manual UK driving licence is required, with ability to pass a driving assessment and work 37 hours per week.

Location: Sevenoaks Delivery Office, TN13 1AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37.00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 7:30 or 12:00/16:00 or 20:00.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

**As a Postie, you’re expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.
