Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Deal is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed term contract of 9 months. You will deliver letters and parcels in Deal, working 30 hours per week on a rotating schedule across Monday to Sunday, 07:00–16:30, earning £13.68 per hour with paid overtime.

You'll receive full training, a uniform, a Royal Mail van, and be part of a trusted community network. The role involves walking and driving, working outdoors in all weathers, building relationships with customers,

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).

Job type: Fixed Termcontract 9 Months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:00/16:30*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
