Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Sevenoaks is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed term contract for 9 months. You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers in your local area.

The role is outdoors, fast-paced and requires a full manual UK driving licence, physical fitness, and the ability to work 37 hours per week on a rotating shift, including weekends. Training and a uniform are provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence required (max 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags.

Job description

Location: Sevenoaks Delivery Office, TN13 1AA

Job type: Fixed Termcontract 9months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37.00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 7:30 or 12:00/16:00 or 20:00.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
