Job summary

Royal Mail Group is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels in Fleet. The role involves a 37-hour week on rotating shifts, including weekends, with a fixed-term 9-month contract and a starting rate of £13.68 per hour.

You will use a Royal Mail van and travel on foot in the local area, building relationships with customers. Full training and a uniform are provided; good physical fitness, reliability, and a positive, customer-focused attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence required.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, lifting 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently in a busy environment.

Location: Fleet Delivery Office, GU51 3BQ

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 37 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:00 to 13:00 or 13:00 to 20:00. A more speicific rota will be given in more detail at the interview.

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays on occasion.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
