Job summary

Royal Mail Huntingdon Delivery Office is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels across Huntingdon. You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, 37 hours per week, with weekend work and full training provided.

You will need a full manual UK driving licence (up to 6 penalty points), be physically fit to walk long distances, and enjoy working outdoors. The role includes driving a Royal Mail van daily, building relationships with customers, and delivering with pride in

Location: Huntingdon Delivery Office, PE29 7AB

Job type: Fixed Term contract (12 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – Between 07:00 - 15:15 or 15:15 - 19:15. More information will be provided at the interview.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be required to work Sundays when needed.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
