Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Hessle (HU13 9TA). You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, on a 30-hour week with a rotating shift pattern across 5 days in 7.

This fixed-term 6-month contract involves outdoor work, building relationships with customers, and reliable, independent routine. A full manual UK driving licence is required, and you must be physically fit to walk long distances and lift mailbags.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:30 - 15:30/13:00 - 19:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About You

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
