Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Rickmansworth to deliver letters and parcels across your local area. You’ll work 30 hours per week on a rotating schedule, including some weekends, with a clear rota for hours and routes.

You’ll receive training, a uniform, and a reliable van, with paid overtime available. The role is physically active, outdoors, and customer-facing, offering regular routine and variety.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) valid in your name and address.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.

Location: Rickmansworth Delivery Office, WD3 1FA

Job type:Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00/15:00

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be required to work Sundays when needed.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)


• Driving a Royal Mail van daily


• Working in all weather conditions


• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels


• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)


• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment


• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
