Job summary

Royal Mail Hoddesdon is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 12-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels in Hoddesdon, walking and driving a Royal Mail van.

The role is 37 hours per week, across 5 days in 7 including Sundays, with outdoors work in all weather and a full manual UK driving licence. Training provided and benefits apply.

Working hours: 37 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 06:40/15:10

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
