Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Hessle is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract for 6 months. You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, building relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weathers.

This role requires a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points), the ability to pass a driving assessment, and physical fitness to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags. The position offers paid overtime and a 30-hour week.

Location: Saxon Way Delivery Office, HU13 9TA

Job type: Fixed Termcontract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday -08:30 - 15:30/13:00 - 19:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
