Job summary

Royal Mail in Bridgwater is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term nine-month contract. You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers as part of an outdoor, active role.

The role requires a full manual UK driving licence, the ability to pass a driving assessment, and comfort working outdoors in all weather with a positive, customer-focused attitude.

Qualifications

• You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting/carrying 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated, with strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service; comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Job description

Location: Bridgwater Delivery Office, TA6 3XX

Job type: Fixed Term contract for nine months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37.00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 06:44/16:04* Flexibility will be required to work up to 19:00

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand. You’ll be required to work Sundays at Bridgwater Delivery Office.

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
