Job summary

Royal Mail in Nailsea is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels in Bristol. This fixed term role runs for 6 months and requires 37 hours per week across 5 days in 7, with rotating shifts and Sunday work at times.

You’ll receive full training, a uniform and a red Royal Mail van. A full UK driving licence (max 6 points) is required, along with fitness to walk long distances, lift mailbags of 10kg+ and work outdoors in all weather.

Location: Nailsea Delivery Office, BS48 1RA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday

Monday - Saturday hours: 07:00 - 15:00 / 12:00 - 20:00

Sunday hours: 09:00 - 16:00

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Bristol South Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
