Job summary

Royal Mail in Weymouth is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join the team in Weymouth. You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, sort mail at the delivery office, and build relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weather.

This role involves a rotating shift pattern, 37 hours per week across Monday to Sunday with some weekend and Sunday duties at Dorchester Delivery Office. Full training provided, with a uniform and a red Royal Mail van supplied.

Qualifications

  • Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
  • Ability to walk long distances up to 12 miles.
  • Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass driving assessment.
  • Physically lift 10kg+ mailbags.
  • Reliable and self-motivated.

Location: Weymouth Delivery Office, DT4 8AH

Job type: Fixed Term contract, 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday to Sunday – supporting two separate shifts between 07:30/18:00*

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

  • A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
  • Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
  • Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
  • Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
  • Comfortable working outdoors and independently
