Job summary

Royal Mail, Frome Delivery Office, BA11 3EW, seeks a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join a 30-hour, four-week rotating schedule across Monday to Sunday. You’ll deliver letters and parcels in Frome, with some weekend work and overtime available.

You’ll receive full training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van. The role is outdoors, active, and community‑facing, offering independence, routine, and practical benefits depending on contract length.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit for long walking distances and lifting mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work outdoors in all weathers.
• Strong organisational skills and focus on customer service.

Location: Frome Delivery Office, BA11 3EW

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:30/15:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in four Sundays at Trowbridge Delivery Office. 12:30/18:30

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
