Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Ringwood is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a 9-month fixed term contract. You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot, and build strong relationships with customers in Ringwood.

The role is 30 hours per week across 5 days in 7, including some weekends and Sundays on a rotation. Full training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van are provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances in all weathers.
• Reliable and self-motivated with good organisation and resilience.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. *

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday -09:00/15:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to one in four work Sundays at Christchurch Delivery Office, BH11 8JP.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
