Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Thornbury is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a 35-hour week, six days in seven with a fifth week off, and weekend duties on a rotating roster. The role is permanent and based at the Thornbury Delivery Office, BS35 3UY.

You'll work outdoors in all weathers, drive a Royal Mail van, and connect with customers while building trusted local relationships.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service.

Location: Thornbury Delivery Office, BS35 3UY

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 35:00 hours per week - working 6 days in 7 for four weeks and fifth week off across Monday - Sunday - 08:00/15:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in six Sundays at Patchway Delivery Office working between 11:00/18:00

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
